Simple Sunday: Butterfly Gala

Welcome to my new Sunday series, affectionately known as Simple Sunday! The aim of this series is to showcase projects using minimal supplies, ideal for the beginner crafter or someone new to Stampin’ Up! Each project is a white card base with a 3×3 panel decorated using a single stamp set or die set. This weeks project is showcasing the Butterfly Gala stamp set, which has a matching punch with it! LOVE punches!

For the stamping, I used memento ink and randomly stamped across my 3×3 piece of cardstock – watch my video to see how I do this. My sentiment is stamped onto an additional strip of cardstock and stuck onto the 3×3 layer. I’ve then used Calypso Coral to stamp the inners of the large butterfly’s wings and stamp the tiny butterfly too.

Both butterflies have been adhered to the card with a single glue dot each, so that I could shape their wings off the card – I love how its finished!

Best Wishes,
Suzanne

Made with Love and Birdies

Last week, I took part in a team event with other demos in the wider team that I am part of. The event was based around the Curvy Variety bundle and this was one of the make and take projects that formed part of the event – it’s so pretty!

The leaves are coloured using a technique taught by Pootles, blending the inky outline in an almost watercolour effect, with a glittery sparkle finish. It’s beautiful. Mine is made with Shaded Spruce, Mint Macaron and Soft Suede – which I think look gorgeous together. I’m not sure what colouring I’ve tried to mimic on the birds though..

The little birds on this card are so bloody cute! I sometimes wonder what they’re twittering to one another, just like when you hear birds outside your window.

What do you think they’re saying?

Best Wishes,
Suzanne

Curvy yet Slimline?

Between now and January 4th, there is a bundle available with is part of an early release – but with 2 exclusive additions. I got my hands on the bundle and got playing with it almost immediately and this box is the first thing I made. It’s a good size and without testing the theory, I believe it would one of the larger bars of chocolate such as Galaxy, Aero or Dairy Milk.

The exclusive 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper that comes as part of the bundle has three colours – Cherry Cobbler, Sahara Sand and Shaded Spruce, as demonstrated by this box. They are gorgeous colours and will make Christmas crafting so easy!

There are two stamp sets as part of the bundle, one themed around Christmas and is again an exclusive to the this promotion – I paired up my sentiment along side a trail of gorgeous stars.

To finish off the box, I used one of my favourite ribbons – the metallic edged ribbon, this one being the Whisper White & Silver version. I absolutely love it and need to buy more!

Have you got your hands on the Curvy Variety Bundle yet?

Best Wishes,
Suzanne

Happiest of Piggin’ Birthdays

How awesome is this giant sentiment in the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set? Whilst I love little sentiments that I can punch out and add to projects, I also love large sentiments which I can make a focal point on a card. The font is absolutely gorgeous!

I wanted to feature it alongside a background stamp, which in this sample is the Camouflage background. I love Camouflage, the stamp set has different textures giving you the impression of multiple tones of one colour – in one press of the stamp!

The characters are made using the Menagerie Mix Up stamp set and are so, so cute!

I mean how cute does that little piggy look? His face is so adorable! The Menagerie Mix Up set enables you to create a whole heap of different animals and the four on this card are only the tip of the ice berg.

What animal would you create?

Suzanne

Merry Owlmas!

I love a cute stamp set, especially little characters that I can colour in with my blends – and aren’t these little owls the cutest little family? I wanted to make the card simple, so that the owls were the main feature and the attention wasn’t drawn away from them. So, I used three colours plus white, to keep it as simple as possible.

One of my favourite colour combinations is a red such as Cherry Cobbler or Real Red paired together with Pool Party. The contrast between the two colours is gorgeous and was a recent colour challenge in a Stampin’ Up! group I am a part of.

The card base is Crumb Cake to match the owls bodies, with simple matts behind the main image. No ribbbon, no embellishments, just simple card layers and some colouring. Which I think is rather adorable!

What do you think?

Best wishes,
Suzanne
