Simple Sunday: Gnome for the Holidays

Welcome to my new Sunday series, affectionately known as Simple Sunday! The aim of this series is to showcase projects using minimal supplies, ideal for the beginner crafter or someone new to Stampin’ Up! Each project is a white card base with a 3×3 panel decorated using a single stamp set or die set. This weeks project is showcasing the Gnome for the Holidays stamp set, which I think is so adorable!

I love colouring in images with my blends and this stamp set really offers some great opportunities to do that. I coloured in the cute little tree house and the gnome using various colours – my video details which ones. The great thing about Stampin’ Up! stamp sets is the stamped image gives you indications of where the light and shade should be, making blending even easier!

Once completed, I fussy cut around the gnome and used dimensionals to pop him onto the front of the card topper. Finishing the whole card with a small bow of braided linen trim. How cute?

Suzanne

Snowflake Domed Splendor

Hands up, how likes an abnormal shaped box? Or something that is a little different to the norm? Well, today’s project is certainly along those lines. Now I’m not the first person to make a box like this, and I’ve seen far too many to credit a single person. So I thought I’d try my own version – these are quite a large size, and will fit a good quantity of treats.

I haven’t used the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper (DSP) in a while and it is such beautiful paper, that I reached out for it again. The colours are absolutely gorgeous and so is the matching ribbon. The picture below shows the iridescent sheen to the ribbon, which makes it sparkle against any project.

I finish my project off with a tag made from Balmy Blue glimmer paper and a Whisper White stitched circle. The stamp is from the cute Snowman Season stamp set and finished the label well.

Which pattern do you prefer – the watercolour ombre one or the snowflakes?

Best Wishes,
Suzanne

Hooray for You

I was recently challenged to use the colour Pink more as it’s not a colour I reach for that often, unless it’s Magenta Madness. I took part in a team event that was based upon the Curvy Variety bundle and so used that as an opportunity to dip out of my comfort zone and used pink – in this case, Petal Pink.

A version of this card was showcased by Deb Toner using the Gilded Autumn Designer Series Paper (DSP), but I chose Peony Garden for my version. I love the finished outcome, especially the silver sprig focussed on the right.

Look at the detail on those dies, they emboss the leaves at the same time as cutting out the sprig. As I had used silver for the sprigs, I wanted to use the Silver Metallic Edged Ribbon but incorporate it with the pink theme. To do this, I coloured in the ribbon using Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends, which I think looks amazing!

Which colour in your collection do you find is used the least? Why not challenge yourself to use it – you may be pleasantly surprised?

Suzanne

Snowy Snowmen

It’s starting to get chilly here in the UK with the first of the gritters heading out onto the roads where I live. In my house, we combat the cold with fluffy blankets, dressing gowns and fluffy socks (as well as the central heating!). But of course, this time of year is brilliant weather for winter critters and snowmen!

Today’s card features these three cute snowmen, who as you can see are having lots of fun outside, and uses one of my favourite colour combinations – Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake and Pool Party.

After stamping the snowmen in Memento, I used my blends to add a pop of colour before layering onto matts of each colour. I really love how it turned out!

Do you enjoy this time of year and getting cosy? Let me know.

Best Wishes,
Suzanne
