Happy Suited Birthday!

I mentioned on a post a couple of weeks ago that I struggle when making masculine cards. Which is still the case and even with a gorgeous suite such as ‘Well Suited’, I still find it takes me some time to bring a project together. However, this card came to me quite quickly and was put together in less than 10 minutes.

The vanilla panel in the middle gave me enough white space so the Paisley pattern on the Designer Series Paper (DSP) didn’t overwhelm, but then also somewhere for me to play my bow ties and sentiment.

Now I’m not sure who I’m going to give this too, but I have a masculine Birthday card prepped and in my stash ready for when I need it!

Do you find making masculine card more difficult?

Simple Sunday #9 – Hydrangea Heaven

Welcome to my new Sunday series, affectionately known as Simple Sunday! The aim of this series is to showcase projects using minimal supplies, ideal for the beginner crafter or someone new to Stampin’ Up! Each project is a white card base with a 3×3 panel decorated using a single stamp set or die set. This week’s project features a stamp and die bundle that you can earn during Sale-a-Bration between 5th January and 28th February.

This bundle is absolutely gorgeous and brings back memories of gardening with my Grandma as a young girl. At a car boot sale, my Grandma and I found a beautiful Hydrangea plant being sold which had the bluest, most gorgeous flowers. The soil conditions in my garden at home meant it remains the most beautiful bright blue for years to come. Whilst I didn’t use blue for the flower head on this card, I feel Gorgeous Grape is a beautiful substitute.

For the flower itself, I used the dies – aside from the sentiment there is no ink used to bring this together. I love how the flower head die gives you the petal detail allowing you to add some dimension to your projects.. and I’m in love with the suite as a whole.

Butterfly Wishes

There are times when I sit in my craft room and I have absolutely no idea what I want to make or have any plan behind the projects I finish up with. This card is a great example of that! When I made this card, all I wanted to do was stamp the gorgeous images from Touch of Ink stamp set and see how I can play with the blending of them and different colour ways.

On a separate thought pattern, I wanted to use the paper from Fine Art as a background on a card but didn’t know where to progress from there. So far, I had two separate ideas and no way forward – or so I thought.

As you can see, in the end I pulled the two ideas together (after my daughter suggested it – credit goes to Mia) and I really happy with the end result. Perhaps I should just let my daughter do the crafting next time?

Blueberry Make My Day…

Now, I will be the first to admit that I was pleasantly surprised at just how gorgeous the Berry Delightful Designer Series Paper (DSP) and Berry Blessing stamp set are. The colours on the page are far more vibrant than any camera can give justice, and the blueberries shown on this card has to be my favourite from the entire pack of paper.

And the best bit? This paper and stamp set are not only a free choice in the Sale-a-bration catalogue, but they also co-ordinate with the Sweet Strawberry bundle from the Mini Catalogue – bonus!

I love the fonts – I love how they have picked a mixture of a script and serif font and bundled them together with a lovely play on words. And of course, no sentiment is safe without some form of embellishment. Instead this time, I paired it with some small blueberries stamped and popped up on dimensionals rather than the traditional rhinestones or pearls.

What do you think? Berries on a card, I think it’s a resounding yes…

Simple Sunday #8 – Art Gallery

Welcome to my new Sunday series, affectionately known as Simple Sunday! The aim of this series is to showcase projects using minimal supplies, ideal for the beginner crafter or someone new to Stampin’ Up! Each project is a white card base with a 3×3 panel decorated using a single stamp set or die set. This weeks project is showcasing the brand new Art Gallery bundle, which is part of the new catalogue which launched on 5th January.

The stamp set is gorgeous and features beautiful two tone flowers, which are so easy to line up and create gorgeous designs. I love them! I’m not a massive fan of flowery sets, but this absolutely sung to me in the catalogue as it’s part of a larger suite (Fine Art Floral) with co-ordinating ribbon, dies, paper and golden speciality acetate

As you can see from this card, the flowers lend well to simplicity and the varying sentiments allow you to switch up the design for a large variety of occasions. I did a second colour way in my video – which one do you prefer?
