40 Brotherly Wishes

Good Morning all, how are you today? How are you enjoying the new goodies so far? Today’s project takes a small break away from the new items and acts as a reminder to the amazing stuff that was already available in the catalogue. Not everybody is a fan of Designer Series Paper (DSP) and even if you are, sometimes there are occasions where the paper doesn’t necessarily transfer to the event you are creating for.

This is where the versatility of Stampin’ Up! proves to be a great advantage, as the stamps mean you can create DSP style backgrounds of your own using the full colour range. This card shows how I took the star motif and the numbers ‘4’ and ‘0’ from the Family Party stamp set to stamp a background suitable for a 40th birthday.

Combined with some Stitched Nested Labels Dies & a touch of Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon and you have a gorgeous monotone card fit for a brother turning 40!

Best Wishes,
Suzanne

Rainbow Birthdays

That’s right, I’m back!

What better time to come back to the world of blogging and sharing than the new Stampin’ Up 2020-2021 catalogue? I have remained a demo during the time I’ve been away from my blog, so have plenty of goodies to show you – I can’t wait!

There is a product in every catalogue that turns up and looks so much better than the photos can give justice. The rainbow glimmer paper is that item in this year’s catalogue, it is absolutely gorgeous!

This card was made for a member of my team in my day job, who turned 21 last week. With such a milestone birthday, I felt it was only right to make a card with such amazing product. Because I didn’t want to distract too much away from the gorgeous rainbow gradient, I went for a simple silhouette look using dies from the Happy and Well Written sets.

I think you’d agree the paper makes the card really special!

Best Wishes,

Boyish Birthday

Do you find that you struggle to make male orientated cards or projects. Those where a flowery Designer Series Paper (DSP) just won’t suit the recipient. As a mum of three children, two of those being boys, I sometimes find myself struggling for a theme to make a card for them. Now they’re no longer babies, it’s even harder to make a more male orientated card.

I’ve found that as long as you have the right colour combination, the card can suit both males and females – unless of course, you’ve got OTT on the flowers etc. This card could be made in any colour combination to suit both males and females.

This one is made with Pacific Point and Smokey Slate – two colours which I think go brilliantly together and follow the male theme I wanted. As a lot of my Designer Series Paper (DSP) is flowery or Christmas, I used an embossing folder to add a bit of texture and design to the card front. Then finished it with some candles and a ‘Happy Birthday’ sentiment from the xx Stamp Set.

What colour combinations do you use for your male inspired projects?

Best Wishes,
Suzanne

Very Vintage Birthday

One amazing benefit of ordering from Stampin’ Up! is the rewards you receive, today showcases one of the absolutely gorgeous hostess stamp sets, available once your order or party hits a total of £150 or more. Very Vintage is a set of gorgeous stamps which instantly caught my eye and I just had to get my hands on it.

Very Vintage offers a beautiful set of stamps, so much so, I created my own background using a ‘stamping off’ technique to get a faded image. Now with any vintage style project, I like to add a pop of colour and for this one, I chose Balmy Blue – one of our new colours as part of the Annual Catalogue refresh.

The bee stamp is somewhat symbolic to my work colleagues and I, as we are based in Manchester so knew many affected by the Ariana Grande MEN Arena bombing. The bee symbolises the unity in which Manchester came together during the aftermath and only felt right to be used on this card.

Coupled with the ‘Stitched All Around’ bundle and you have an amazing card, for that special someone on their birthday.

Best Wishes,
Suzanne
