Simple Sunday #15 – Puffin Party

Welcome to my new Sunday series, affectionately known as Simple Sunday! The aim of this series is to showcase projects using minimal supplies, ideal for the beginner crafter or someone new to Stampin’ Up! Each project is a white card base with a 3×3 panel decorated using a single stamp set or die set. This week’s project features Puffin Party stamp set which you can purchase from the 2021 Annual Catalogue.

Aren’t the puffins so cute? They’re so adorable, especially this little guy who is clearly in the party mood. As is the theme every Sunday, I like to keep things simple to show that you don’t need a craft room full of items to make pretty cards. Each of the images have been stamped with the same Memento ink pad – which is the best ink for using alcohol markers. Then just two colours of Stampin’ Blends, Balmy Blue and Daffodil Delight.

As this stamp set isn’t part of a bundle, I’ve shown how you can achieve a similar look by using your scissors to fussy cut around the image. Popping them up on dimensionals to give some impact to the card. Doesn’t he look so happy with his party hat and cake?

And the best part about this card? You can switch out the colours, the stamp set or sentiment to make completely different designs each time!

Best Wishes,

Elegant Cubes

Sometimes you just need a project that you can put together in a short amount of time as you have a last minute gift you need or perhaps you’re working in bulk. Stampin’ Up! sell some gorgeous pre-made boxes ready for you to construct and decorate in any way you please. Today’s project uses the Simply Classic Treat Boxes which come with a white bottom and gold cube top, perfect as they are if you don’t wish or have time to decorate.

As the Gold co-ordinates perfectly with the Simply Elegant Designer Series Paper, I used that to decorate the panels on the top lidded section of the boxes. TIP: To get the Designer Series Paper to fit snug on the top panel of the box, you will need to punch a hole in the centre and feed the ribbon tag through. I show you how to do this in my tutorial below.

On the first sample, I made an error and used a ‘Thanks’ sentiment from the Hand-Penned Petals stamp set – I like how it looks, but I wanted to make sure I used everything from the same suite / bundle, so in my video I have used a ‘For You’ from the Elegantly Said stamp set. I love both of them, so just shows how versatile you can be!

To add a little more co-ordination, I included a small ribbon of Gold Trim and a Gold Metallic Pearl – love it. The best bit? This was made in approx. 15 minutes – great for bulk production!

Best Wishes,

Shimmering Incolor Birthday

Whoop! Everyone loves a project with something that shimmers, right? I know I do. What’s more, it’s one of the new colours and it uses a full sheet to showcase the gorgeousness (that’s a word) of the paper. The new Incolor Shimmer paper is beautiful and whilst my photos don’t quite capture just how beautiful it is, my video certainly does – so be sure to watch it!

The colours within the new 2021-2023 Incolors are absolutely gorgeous and so no great work is required to make a project look stunning – I decided to team mine up with the Artistic Dies and the Tailor Made tags, keeping them as basic as possible to let the paper do all the talking.

To help stick the gorgeous leaf motif from the Artistic dies, I used the Adhesive Sheets. It prevents all the mess that can be made when trying to get liquid glue in the right places. Then to give the label a bit of ‘pop’ and tie it in with the colour scheme, I’ve added some of the co-ordinating ink around the edges with a blending brush.

…and no bag is finished without some bling on there, so the Silver and Clear Epoxy essentials give it a gorgeous finish. In the video I make a Pale Papaya version – which do you prefer?

Best Wishes,

Blended Butterflies

Welcome to my Butterfly Bouquet spotlight week – this week will feature 7 video tutorials posted back to back to spotlight this early release collection from the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue. The collection is made up of several components – Stamps, Dies, Designer Series Paper (DSP) and Specialty Paper.

It’s time to get a bit messy / creative as today I have been blending with brushes using a mask. I was inspired by this idea following a craft session making tomorrow’s box. A leftover section of tomorrow’s project works really well as a mask, but needed to be a little bigger so I set off making another. Using the dies from the Brilliant Wings set (which forms part of the Butterfly Bouquet collection), I used the largest butterfly to make my mask – be sure to make it large enough that you don’t risk blending off the mask like I did (see my video).

On Monday, I used my blending brushes with three colour – Magenta Madness, Misty Moonlight & So Saffron, so I stuck to that colour choice for today’s project too. They go together so well, so as they say “why fix what isn’t broken?”. The colours blend beautifully together and get a lovely sharp edge thanks to the mask.

Finishing off the card with some contrast by heat embossing a sentiment in white onto black cardstock gives it a great finish, with some matte black dots of course! I love it…and the best thing about it? You will never get two cards the same because of the blending technique used.

In my video I did a bright version and a more subtle version, which did you prefer?

Best Wishes,
Suzanne
