Feeling Boho Blue

photo_template-Recovered

Small boxes are absolutely adorable and they’re even better when you get to make them from a single suite of products! This project uses the absolutely gorgeous Boho Indigo Product Medley, a selection of goodies with dark blues as a theme – Night of Navy & Misty Moonlight in the Stampin’ Up! world.

I love darker colours, so getting to use these lovely dark shades of blue is right up my street. The product medley can be found on page 9 of the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue, just before the kits. It contain a whole host of goodies including a stamp set, a 6×6 Designer Series Paper Stack, co-ordinating dies and two sets of ribbon!

To showcase this suite, I chose a relatively simple box to make – no fancy folds or over the top decoration. This box is 3 inches square and is a lovely size to house sweet treats, some small cards / tags or perhaps some jewellery.

The ribbon finishes off the box really well, I love the frayed edge on it and it feels so soft! And the best part? You can buy refills for the medley if you run out!

Best Wishes,
Suzanne

Patterns of Happiness

Sometimes I have to remind myself of the acronym K.I.S.S (Keep it Simple, Stupid). When I sit crafting multiple cards in one session, I steadily get more and more complicated throwing every available product at the card base. I then have to remind myself to scale things back and keep it simple.

Today’s card is a great example of keeping it simple with just two colours making up the card theme – Night of Navy & Whisper White. Using the Playing with Patterns Designer Series Paper (DSP), I layered up two die cuts from the Hippo & Friends dies to make the sentiment the focal piece of the card.

I absolutely love the font used on the sentiment and so didn’t want to distract away from the message it gives. To finish off the card, I used the Night of Navy ribbon from the Playing with Patterns combo pack & some basic pearl embellishments.

Sometimes, it’s nice to keep it simple..

Best Wishes,
Suzanne

After Eight Teacher

20200705_172401369_iOS

How is already that time of year? Schools are getting ready to break up for the six weeks of summer (for those year groups that have been able to return following Covid-19 closures). For my eldest son, this is his last year in Primary School and he moves onto the scary world that is High School from September. Even though he will have only been back mere weeks, he wanted to get his teachers something to say ‘thank you’ and ‘goodbye’.

Inside these boxes are 10 After Eight chocolates, just the right amount to say thank you to each teacher without overloading them to the point they need a gym membership to work off the extra pounds gained from end of year gifts.

My son chose the Whale of a Time paper stack and a fish pattern in Shaded Spruce – which works well as the After Eight’s choc box is also a dark green. At first we tried stamping and colouring in the apple from Harvest Hellos with Stampin’ Blends, but something just didn’t quite sit right. A quick look on Instagram showed lots of stampers embossing their apples on coloured card stock, which has worked brilliantly on these boxes.

Finished off with a little note inside & a bow of ribbon on the front, these are gorgeous little teacher gifts without breaking the bank. My son can’t wait to give these to his teachers on the last day of school!

Where is this year going?

Best Wishes,
Suzanne

Mint Friend

I do love making cards using just two colours – they’re so simple and use very little supplies!

Today’s card was made using a stamp that’s not often used from the Beauty Abound’s stamp set, the bubble style motif is often overlooked in favour of the flowers or butterflies. I think the same can be said for my colour choice – Soft Sea Foam.

The subtle green shade is often a touch too light for people’s tastes and is often shunned in favour of Mint Macaron. But I like it – and so decided today’s card was going to be made showcasing the two items and bring them into the spotlight.

To give it a focal point, I’ve layered up several shapes to make the sentiment stand out and finished it off with some gorgeous – good for all occasion – pearls.

I hope you like it?

Best Wishes,
Suzanne
